What is the Success Mentor System?

The founders of the Success Mentor System have extensive experience in educational reform, educational administration, technology and youth development. All founders are seasoned professionals with track records in prestigious businesses and educational institutions. An advisory committee, composed of leaders in international business and education, also supports the management team.

Executive Committee

Chief Executive Officer: Tianhe (Frank) Wang

Tianhe (Frank) Wang, EMBA and MS in Computer Science, is the Chief Executive Officer and creator of the Success Mentor System. Mr. Wang is a veteran of the educational market in China and has expertise in integrating curriculum and technology. During his 16 years of professional experience, Tianhe has served as the senior manager of one of the most prominent international school chains in China, has led the initiative to establish two joint venture tertiary educational programs between reputable US and Chinese educational institutions, headed a national research project in the integration of curriculum and technology and played a key role, under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, in rolling out the first national standards in this field. Since arriving in the United States in 2010, he has headed a group of US and Chinese scholars, education reformers and educational technologists to design and develop the Success Mentor System. The Success Mentor System is among the first integrated systems that address the gaps between the graduation requirements of tertiary educational institutions and the recruiting/admission requirements of employers and/or top tier educational institutions providing graduate or professional study. The Success Mentor Team provides comprehensive skill based learning and assessment systems that reflect employers needs while supplementing the academic evaluation systems currently used by schools and colleges.


Chief Product Officer: Jim Onderdonk

Jim Onderdonk, PhD, is the Chief Product Manager at the Success Mentor Team. Dr. Onderdonk leads the Product Development Unit, designing, developing and planning engaging educational programs that address the developmental needs of our member students. As one of the founders of the Success Mentor Project, Jim brings on board his 30 plus years of experience in developing and delivering educational programs for the United States Department of the Navy both in the U S and in the United Kingdom, at The Institute for Computing in Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (I-CHASS) and the Division of Conferences and Institutes at the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign, in the United States. His expertise centers on applying empowering technologies to accelerate research and education, and has published in that field. Being a seasoned educational professional, Jim's passion is to effect positive change in students' lives. He also leads an advisory board composed of veteran educators and business practitioners to facilitate community wide learning initiatives.

Chief Advisor to Academic Developments: Dwight Allen

Dr. Dwight W. Allen is the Eminent Scholar of Educational Reform, Emeritus at Old Dominion University. He co-chaired the WorldAgInfo Design Team, a project that developed recommendations for agricultural information initiatives in South Asia and Africa for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Throughout his professional career, Dr. Allen has advocated educational reform in various disciplines and has actively engaged in many reform initiatives. He has published in many professional journals and has written nine books in the field of education reform, educational technology and educational assessment. During his career, Dr. Allen served as a professor at Stanford University, Dean of the School of Education, University of Massachusetts and as Chief Technical Advisor to various UN agencies, including UNESCO, UNICEF and UNDP. He has been active in several education and technology initiatives in China and has consulted with a number of Sino-US joint venture schools in China. Dr. Allen advises the Learning Specialist Team at Success Mentors on designing and developing highly efficient, practical learning tools to engage our students in integrative, experiential, and proactive learning. He received his BA, MA and Ed.D. From Stanford University.


Chief Advisor to Personal Development: Alyce C. LeBlanc

Alyce C. LeBlanc, Ph.D. is a veteran curriculum designer and staff developer for faculty and leadership programs spanning K12 and postsecondary education. In her 20 years of professional experience, Dr. LeBlanc has served as a staff development professional for K12 schools, and as a college faculty member and administrator (assistant dean and faculty chair) in the US educational system. She has served as an education consultant both in the U.S. and abroad, and has particular expertise in the area of performance appraisal systems. Dr LeBlanc is an expert and pioneer in the design, development, and implementation of online programs targeting outcomes- and assessment-based curriculum for K12 teachers and leaders. She also led the development and implementation of a unique model of embedded, integrated research in an innovative Ed.D. program in leadership and management. At the Success Mentor Team, Dr. LeBlanc advises the Growth Specialist Team on constructing and delivering curriculum designed to enhance the social and emotional learning and leadership development programs. She also advises the Assessment Specialist Team on the design and implementation of a results-oriented, integrated online assessment system.

Associate Partners

Successful Chinese American Network

Success Mentor Team builds on a group of Chinese professionals who live in the United States and who have been successful in the fields of Information Technology, Financial Services, Bioscience, Engineering, Colleges, Arts Creation, International Organizations and Non Profit Organizations, etc. We call them Associate Partners. These Partners may be able to provide profound influence and advice in selected fields for our students' career development. They could be the parents of other students, they could be successful managers in large US or international organizations and corporations or they could be successful entrepreneurs. They could the renowned professors, who can help students in research projects, or help them publish in professional journals or they could be retired human resource managers who know all best strategies for excelling in an interview.

As a group, the Associate Partners will create a positive, collaborative networking platform where students can connect to various industries as per their own field of studies, and provides career coaching and professional development opportunities to our member students.
